Designed by Demag and based on the D7 chassis, the original half-track's complex angled plate design was significantly simplified in October 1943 to ease production. Because the original 19 armor plates were reduced to just nine, the resulting design is often referred to as the Sd.Kfz.250 NEU. Production of almost 2,400 vehicles continued until July 1944. Importantly, Dragon is once again offering premium plastic kits in 1:35 scale. What is particularly noteworthy is that Dragon is the only kit manufacturer to offer the Sd.Kfz.250 NEW in 1:35 scale!
Item No. 6476 represents the basic version, the Sd.Kfz.250/1 NEW, which had two MG34 machine guns. It carries the Premium Edition label and is equipped with a range of stunning parts such as Magic Tracks, Gen2 soldier equipment and weapons to fill the vehicle interior, as well as metal width indicator bars and a bonus headlight. Assembly is made easier by incorporating sliding moldings while recreating a realistic tarp over the troop compartment. The Sd.Kfz.250/1 New half-track may be the basic version, but this fantastic kit is anything but simple!
