The death throes of Berlin (DVD)

On the morning of 21 April 1945 crossed vanguards of the 2nd Soviet Guards Tank Army and the 3rd and 5 Shock Army of the ring road north of Berlin: The Battle for the capital had begun. The military futility of this struggle was evident, but Stalin deliberately sacrificed the lives of many Soviet soldiers, up to the celebration of the 1st May to capture the Reichstag. Thousands of young Russians had to die for this success, which was only propaganda of importance. The film by Irmgard from the mills is a contemporary document of rare intensity. The suffering of many and the courage of individual, often in a hopeless situation, portrayed in stunning images.

In the 80s and 90s, resulting from the material of Chronos archive documentaries are now one of the "classics of contemporary history". Since the recordings were left in their original state, the films have a high level of authenticity.
