"The whole ship body shuddered and trembled, and it felt as though we should burst in the next few minutes. All screaming and yelling in all rooms. Paramedics and nurses were standing at the doors, the ship rocked back and forth mightily. The wounded who could stand up, rose, but flew directly against the walls. The other injured slid apart with their beds. We beat us and oppressed each other and hurt us even more than we've already been hurt. "Says Franz Huber, who as a wounded soldier on board" was Steuben ".

On 9 February 1945 is the "Steuben" of Pillau towards Kiel. On board are 2800 wounded, 300 doctors and nurses, 150 crew members and 900 refugees. Darkened investigated the ex-passenger ship in the protection of the torpedo boat T 196 his way through the Baltic Sea. Amounting Stolpmünde lurks the Soviet submarine S-13. Around 0:55 clock is the "Steuben" by two torpedoes hit and sank in just 15 minutes. The majority of the people on board died in the accident. Only about 660 castaways are rescued from the frigid Baltic Sea.

In summer 2004, the Polish Navy soldiers discover by chance the wreck of the "Steuben". A German research ship sailing to the reference, on board survivors of the sinking who want to commemorate the dead at the crash site. The documentation shows the first footage from the wreck and records the fate of the drive "Steuben" after meticulously. A fascinating documentary about one of the greatest maritime disasters in the history of mankind.
