Operation Barbarossa - The war in the East (DVD)

Sunday 22th, June 1941, 3:15 clock. From Finland to the Black Sea illuminates a massive barrage darkness. More than three million soldiers - support of 3500 tanks and 2700 aircraft - are advancing into Soviet territory. The most powerful force since Napoleon began the war against the ideological enemy in the East. Many people believe in another lightning victory. But while the German soldiers fight to exhaustion, is not on account of Hitler.

At exactly three years after the start of the Russian campaign begins the long-awaited Russian offensive in the area of Army Group Center. In heavy defensive battles, the Wehrmacht fought bitterly against the more massive advancing Red Army, which was four months later reach East Prussia. Dramatic, partly colored by soldiers rolling footage documenting the war in the east in previously unseen ways.

The film is a sample taken from the DVD set "The great campaigns of World War II"
