The war also awarded German Cross was called on 28 September 1941 by the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Adolf Hitler, donated. This Gold Award was instituted to honor the ways to expand military honor, the first already in the possession of the Iron Cross and 2nd class were and have won many awards through brave deeds in combat, but the conditions are still not to have been awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross fulfilled. The Gold Cross was even after the award awarded the Knight's Cross yet. The German Cross in Silver on the other hand ranged from the War Merit Cross 1st Class and the Knight's Cross of the War Merit Cross and was a prerequisite for the award of the Knight's Cross. The award numbers amount to about 24,300 gold pieces and silver in about 1,100 pieces. It was designed by Professor Klein from Munich.
There are various known manufacturers. The description in the form of numbers is on the needle, either above or below. Manufacturer numbers are 1, 2, 20, 21, the manufacturer 134 stamped centrally on the back.
From 1942 the German Cross in Gold was issued as embroidered fabric star on a fabric base in each of the corresponding color of the branch of service.
The special shape in gold with diamonds was indeed produced but never awarded. The few pieces of (20) were brought to the U.S. as a war trophy.
