Dragon has released several members of the Sd.Kfz.7 8-ton halftrack family, but until now one variant was missing. Dragon is therefore pleased to announce a 1/35 scale kit of a Sd.Kfz.7 armed with a 3.7cm Flak 43 anti-aircraft gun. The range already includes half-tracks with 3.7 cm Flak 36 and Flak 37 guns, so this one is a bit more unique. It is essentially a Sd.Kfz.7/2 type and incorporates the armored cab with 8mm thick panels as seen on earlier kits. The newer gun can be rotated 360° by hand and the Flak 43 had an elevation range of -10° to +90°. The crew consisted of seven men - commander, driver and five gunners. About 120 rounds of ammunition were transported on the vehicle, while another 432 rounds could be stowed in a special trailer. Sd.Kfz.7/2 systems were manufactured by Germany from 1942 and from late 1943 some halftracks were supplied with a cab protected by 8mm thick armor plate instead of the usual open cab. These vehicles served in Luftwaffe anti-aircraft units.
This kit contains the armored cabin and a beautifully detailed 3.7 cm Flak 43 gun. The weapon's associated shield is metal to achieve real scale thickness. The brackets that attach the shield to the weapon are also brand new. In addition, the turret mount of this anti-aircraft gun is also new! The rear sides of the combat platform can be modeled upright for transport or folded down for an in-action diorama. The halftrack and gun are of the highest quality, making this vehicle a welcome addition to Dragon's Sd.Kfz.7 family with an armored cabin and a new weapon.
